Respect for Animals

Animals play a critical role in helping us discover and develop cures for some of the most devastating of human diseases including cancer, AIDS, hepatitis and debilitating heart and respiratory ailments. At SNBL USA, we understand and respect the role these animals play, and have played, and in no way dishonor their contribution. The people who staff our animal facilities have entered their line of work and taken employment with us to make providing appropriate, ethical care and treatment the key priority of their jobs.

For now at least, some drugs require testing in animals before they can be tested in humans. Until such time as animal testing is no longer necessary, we pledge to:

• Provide all animals with proper care and respect in complete compliance with our own conscience as well as the USDA, FDA, AAALAC and other industry and regulatory bodies.
• Verify that animals are housed comfortably and with minimal stress, and not mishandled or abused.
• Hire personnel whose views of animal husbandry and welfare are in alignment with SNBL USA corporate values.
• Use alternative methods to animal testing in situations where this is consistent with regulatory requirements and good science.
